R8 Trip to Oxwich Bay
R8 had a lovely trip in May to study the Wonderful Weather in Oxwich Bay. They learnt about wind direction and strength by making wind vanes and flying wind socks. Temperature, humidity and wind speed readings were measured across the sand dunes. Dials helped the children identify various cloud formations, but the parachute activity was definitely the most fun part, with the children building up storm clouds and rain. The children also witnessed how air pressure builds, as a water rocket was launched several times.
Although it was windy, for once the weather was wonderful and the children thoroughly enjoyed their free time building sand castles on the beach. Owain didn’t want the day to end.
