R14 Success at Engineering Challenge 2014
On Thursday 6th November, twenty-one R14 students went to Cardiff University’s School of Engineering to learn about Engineering as a vocation and the many different avenues within the profession. Pupils heard from local businesses working in civil engineering, with the opportunity to ask questions and expand their knowledge on the subject.
Our pupils were then challenged to construct a bridge, aiming to build a structure that could hold a heavy load.
After two hours of building, destroying and rebuilding their bridges (and, of course, adding some much needed decoration) it was finally time to test them.
Victory came to Alif, Charles, Daniel, Richard and Rowan as their structure managed to hold off over 2,000 grams of sugar.
Our other teams fared well too, with Harini, Mehak, Olivia and Thea scooping up the award for ‘best design’.
