Sixth Formers in Oxford & Cambridge Debating Competitions

Sixth Former Success at Cambridge Union Debating Competition

This has been a busy week for our sixth form debaters with competitions both on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 January.  The week began with a trip to Badminton School, Bristol, where four of our L6th & U6th debaters (Dominie Patel, Ross Lisney-Wilson, Matthew Barbato and Abhinaba Guha) took part in the prestigious South West Regional Final of Cambridge Schools Debating Competition, having already won the first round.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday night, four L6th debaters (Ryan Martyn, Bethan Thomas, Parinita Swarnkar and Rebecca Daniels) joined some 32 teams from across South Wales in the Oxford Union Schools Debating Competition at Bishop of Llandaff.

In both competitions, the standard of debating on display was extremely high. The judges praised our students for their confident speaking, well-structured and convincing arguments.

Mr J. Neville.
