R15 Work Experience 2015

R15 students have been given the opportunity to work with professional companies in the Cardiff area and beyond. This week, St John’s students have been learning about the world of work and what it takes to be employees of the future. As Head of the R15 year group it has been a great pleasure to oversee these partnerships between businesses and our R15 students.  The local businesses and companies have provided our young students with the inspiration, motivation and experiences needed to help them flourish this week.  Likewise, I have received feedback that our students have adopted a mature approach towards their work and have offered new perspectives for partnership companies.

Morgan (pictured) has worked with the forensic Science team at South Wales Police this week, helping with finger printing and sending information to the forensic labs for investigation following two burglaries. She is finding the experience fascinating and is certainly learning quickly!

Partnerships for 2015 have included:

South Wales Police, NHS Wales, Royal National Institute for the Blind, Panasonic Communications, Welsh Heart Institute, LG Williams and Pritchard Solicitors, David Lloyd Tennis Centre, Waitrose, Ultra Sound Dept. University Hospital Wales, Cardiff Riding School, Effective Communication Llandaff, Heath Vets, Aston Martin Stratstone, Rhydypennau Primary School and KK Communications London, West End Montessori Pre School Glasgow, Hall & Bednarczyk Architects Chepstow, Ruxton Estate Agents West Midlands and Biogen Labs Massachusetts.

Thank you to our partnership companies for mentoring our students through their work experience week.

Good luck with the remaining few days and enjoy a restful summer break.  We will very much look forward to reading your emails and log books following your work experience.
