Cathedral Choir Sings at Westminster Abbey
As a fitting end to the academic year, on Tuesday 21 July, our Cathedral Choir travelled to London to sing evensong in the wondrous setting of Westminster Abbey. The service began with the Director of Music and Organist Dr David Neville’s I give you a new Commandment as the introit, followed by Gibbons’ Second Service and Mendelssohn’s Blessed are the men who fear Him.
Between rehearsals, the boys and girls found time to see the tomb of Elizabeth I and to visit the Henry VII Lady Chapel, with its pendant fan vault ceiling. It was a wonderful occasion and a rare opportunity for the choir to take part in this important element of the Anglican tradition. We are very grateful to the many parents and friends of the choir who travelled from near and far to attend this special service.
