Sixth Formers Compete in Oxford Union Debating
On Thursday 11 February, Sixth of our L6th students competed in the Oxford Union Debating Competition, this year hosted by Cardiff Sixth Form College. Hannah, Nila, Peter, Hee-Chan, Katie and Michael were pitted against teams from across South Wales and debated the following challenging topics across two rounds:
‘This house believes that the English curriculum should prioritise works of literature that reflect natural modern life in this country over classic literature.’
‘This house would introduce a maximum salary cap’
Congratulations to our students on some excellent performances which drew praise from the judges. I am grateful to Mr Turner for kindly accompanying the students while I was with our R15/R16 public speakers at Howell’s on the same evening.
Mr J. Neville
