Success for Mostyn at the Middle School Eisteddfod

Llwyddiant i Mostyn yn Eisteddfod yr Ysgol Ganol

On Friday February 26th, our Middle School pupils gathered together in the school hall for our annual Middle School Eisteddfod. The pupils eagerly await this time of year when they can celebrate and embrace Welsh culture; both pupils and teachers have been working hard for months in preparation of our much loved day of music, literary performances, celebration and friendly competition. Pupils competed in numerous competitions, ranging from stage competitions including Welsh recitation and solo instrumental competitions to homework competitions across the subject range. Homework competitions included designing a leaflet about Pont Hafren and a French poster about their family, to name only a couple. R12 pupils produced some excellent structures of famous buildings in Cardiff for the Art and DT competition. It was a tough job for Mrs Armour to choose the winners!

It was a close competition, but this year, congratulations go to Mostyn for winning the most points.

Winners include Aviral B in R13C for his outstanding recitation of a Welsh poem, Akash H (R12E) playing the guitar, Anna A (R12M) playing the violin and both Menglin L (R13D) and Vlad V (R12M) for their captivating piano pieces.

The main award of the ceremony goes to Jasmine Cardoza in R14 as she was crowned Bard of the Eisteddfod. Jasmine was accompanied by Welsh GCSE pupils, Emily H and Anfaal H to her chair on the stage, where she was draped in our national Welsh flag and crowned as our 2016 bard. Jasmine was also presented with her certificate and prize before the formal ceremony closed with the audience congratulating her for her exceptional achievement!

Llongyfarchiadau Jasmine! Congratulations Jasmine!
