R10 Pirate Day

R10 enjoyed a day at Port Eynon Beach where they practised using grid references and compasses. The skills learnt enabled them to follow a series of clues to discover where the pirate treasure was buried.  Further exploration of the Salt House revealed the pirates’ hidden stash.  Once the goods had been exchanged for gold coins the pupils set about building their own islands in the sand. Next they hid their coins and drew maps with grid references to show the location of their treasure. Their partners then had the task of trying to locate the coins. Most were successful!
