R14 Debaters Attend ‘Make Your Mark’ Grand Council at City Hall

On Wednesday 6 July, members of the Senior Debating Society were invited to take part in the Young People’s Grand Council at Cardiff City Hall as part of the ‘Make Your Mark – A Call to Action‘ UK Youth Parliament initiative.

Issues proposed at today’s event will then be debated by Members of Youth Parliament in the House of Commons in November who vote to set national priorities and campaigns for the coming year. Cardiff Youth Council  (CYC) will then use the Cardiff data to set local priorities and run campaigns to make Cardiff a better place to live, work and play.

Suyash, Sameera and Neil (R14) contributed confidently to debate in the council chamber and had such an enjoyable and informative day that they have already applied to become full members of the Cardiff Youth Council.  We are grateful to CYC and Councillor De’Ath for offering this excellent opportunity for young people to voice their political priorities.

Mr J. Neville
