High Profile Civic Service

On Sunday 6 November, the Cathedral, Choir and the Archbishop of Cardiff hosted a civic service for Councillor Monica Walsh, The Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor of Cardiff.

It was a pleasure to welcome representatives from a number of local organisations including Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of South Glamorgan, the High Sheriff of South Glamorgan, the President of the Consular Association, the Secretary General of the Muslim Council for Wales, the Naval Regional Commander of Wales and Western England, the Lord Mayor’s Chaplain, representatives of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cancer Research Wales, and representatives of the Lord Mayor’s Council.

Following on from Thursday’s outreach project, Mr D. Neville commented: “It was wonderful to welcome and collaborate with choristers from Corpus Christi High School.  Congratulations to all the choristers of the combined choirs for the magnificent music on Sunday. The two anthems by John Rutter were performed with great beauty and sensitivity, and particular congratulations to everyone for the impressive singing in the national anthems and descants.”
