Winners of Rotary Youth Speaks – Senior Competition

On Thursday night, two teams of public speakers from St John’s College took part in the Rotary Youth Speaks Senior Competition hosted by Llanishen High School.  A total of sixth teams were involved from Howell’s School, Llanishen High and St John’s College.

The R16 team, comprising Alif (Chairperson), Rowan (Speaker) and Idris (Proposer of the Vote of Thanks), spoke convincingly on the benefits of veganism and offered their best performance to date.  Meanwhile, our L6 team of Olivia Fairhurst, Lily Beere and Benedict Dimond gave a highly assured and persuasive performance on the subject of human rights.

Many congratulations to Lily for her superb speech entitled ‘All that glitters is not gold’, to Olivia who was awarded the prize for ‘Best Chairperson’ and to Benedict who was awarded the prize for ‘Best Vote of Thanks’.  The collective efforts of the team resulted in a very compelling presentation.  Our L6 team will now progress to the Area Final on 30 January.
