Hockey News

32 Junior and Senior squad hockey players, played two inter-school matches on Monday night.  There were some fantastic goals and positional play across both matches.  The main focus within the matches was “width in play”.  Pupils really did understand the concept.  Well done to all involved.  Mrs Wood

Football News

On Thursday afternoon the R14 and R15 Boys’ Football Teams played against Rougemount. Both teams played fantastically well and produced outstanding team performances. The R14’s drew their match 1-1 with Christian J scoring a wonder goal from 25 yards. The R15’s managed a convincing 2-0 victory, Otis S and Lloyd F were the goal scorers. On Tuesday afternoon the R13 Boys’ Football Team were involved in a double header fixture vs Rougemount. All the pupils involved played fantastically well and were a credit to the school. Unfortunately St John’s lost both fixtures, however there were many positives to take. Congratulations to all involved.  Mr Tertois and Mr Williams.

Well done to the R12/13 Girls’ Football team who attended a training session this lunchtime in preparation for a tournament at St Teilo’s on Friday.  Mr Tertois

A massive congratulations to the R12/13 Girls’ Football team who won two out of their four games against St Teilo’s. There were some excellent performances on display. Special mentions to the St John’s goal scorers, Crina C (2), Ella E, Elys M (2), and Nithya M.

Badminton News

On Tuesday, St John’s entered the Cardiff Regional Badminton Tournament. Pupils competed across the R12-16 age categories. The level of competition in the younger category was incredibly strong, however our pupils managed an excellent 3-2 Victory over Cardiff High.

The senior squad were consistently outstanding throughout the tournament with the A team winning every game in the group stage 5-0, gaining victories over Fitzalan, Cardiff High and Glantaf. They went on to win comfortably in the final against Bro Edern to be crowned Cardiff regional champions. The A squad will now progress to the South Wales championships in March. Rugby News

The R14/13 Rugby team faced a tough test at Eastern High on Wednesday afternoon. The pupils showed fantastic resilience in what was an incredibly physical game. Unfortunately the scoreline did not go our way, but the pupils can be exceptionally proud of their levels of commitment. A special mention to the R13 players who stepped up to play against the year above.  Mr Williams

Other News

Congratulations to Harri T and Zakriya A on achieving first and second place respectively in the Welsh Rowing Championships. They both rowed incredibly impressive distances over a 2 minute time trial. Well done both. We look forward to watching your progress.
