Wonder Junior Book Club

R. J. Palacio’s Wonder has confirmed its place as a Junior Book Club favourite, receiving a standing ovation from Book Club members, just like its central character, Auggie. Quiz winners, St David’s 1, also deserve a round of applause for winning a closely fought contest.

Next Junior Book Club

The next Book Club texts are both written by the multi award winner and former Children’s Laureate (2013 – 2015), Malorie Blackman. Blackman is acknowledged as one of today’s most imaginative and convincing writers for young people:

Thief! (for older readers) or Cloud Busting (suitable for all).

Thief!, set largely in the future, is about friendship, trust and the importance of forgiveness.

“Gripping tale” Independent on Sunday

“Impossible to put down” The Sunday Telegraph

Cloud Busting, is a lyrical story, written in verse, that celebrates friendship and individuality.

“Inspired writing” The Guardian

“This is a masterpiece of writing and a book for all ages” (TES)

The next Book Club will be held, in Circle Time, on Tuesday 25th April. As always, those who have read the text, had it read to them or have listened to the audio book are welcome to attend.

Happy reading,

Mrs J Cooney & Miss L Price
