Junior Team Maths Challenge / Intermediate Maths Challenge
The UKMT Junior Team Maths Challenge took place at Aberdare Community School recently and 32 teams participated, including the team above (from left: Aviral B, Benjamin J, Luke V and Akash H). The competition includes four separate rounds which are challenging and exciting and involve both individual and team work. Our team came third – a tremendous effort by the team who thoroughly enjoyed their day – a credit to themselves, and to the school.
The intermediate Maths challenge was held at the school recently and 10 gold certificates were won. This is a great achievement in itself, but the following pupils scored well enough to enter the follow up round (the ‘Kangaroo’): Dylan O; Jasmine S; Aviral B; Lucheng X; Sachin P; Neil M; Daniel S; Zixuan W; Edward X and Aidan B. Three of these pupils: Dylan, Neil and Daniel achieved merits in this challenge.
A further 2 pupils scored well enough to qualify for the Olympiad entry: Qinxin W and Suyash A. Both pupils achieved distinctions in this challenge – a truly outstanding achievement.
Well done all.
