R10 Residential Trip to Cardiff Bay
R10B and R10T thoroughly enjoyed their two day residential trip at the Urdd Centre in the heart of Cardiff Bay. Setting off with bags and day packs on Thursday morning (4th May), pupils toured the Principality Stadium in the centre of Cardiff on their way to the Bay. After experiencing the atmosphere of the changing room and the noise of the crowd in the tunnel, the pupils learnt about the history and running of the stadium.
The rest of the day involved a walking tour of Cardiff Bay, visiting Techniquest and playing field games near Roath basin. After evening meal at the Urdd and settling into rooms the pupils enjoyed competing in the quiz before going to bed.
The following day the pupils were shown the inner workings of the Senedd and with the help of the tour guide debated whether the school day in Wales should start later or stay the same. After this serious discussion pupils (and staff) competed fiercely at bowling before a boat trip around the perimeter of Cardiff Bay.
Pupils commented on the trip saying: ‘It was the best trip ever!’; “I loved playing games on the field”; and “Playing with all the puzzles at Techniquest was my favourite”.
The pupils behaved extremely well throughout and were a credit to the school. Hopefully pupils will cherish the memories of their overnight stay in Cardiff Bay.
