Junior Techniquest Visit
On Wednesday, 26th April, Kevin from Techniquest came to the school to teach KS2 all about the human body. He was extremely enthusiastic and was soon engaged in telling the pupils all about the different organs. They were amazed to learn that the skin was their largest organ and could not quite believe that their digestive system was really that long, as Kevin pulled it organ by organ from a bag.
The demonstration and question and answer session was followed by a series of activities. Pupils were able to look closely at their skin through a microscope linked to a computer screen. Miss Teideman’s scab magnified many times was a highlight for many of the children as were the photos of split ends and taste buds. Children also had to identify smells, match textures and assemble a skeleton.
An interesting, informative and fun time was had by all and Techniquest’s return is eagerly awaited.
