Junior Book Club
Frozen in Time
Junior Book Club members were enthralled by Ali Sparkes’ heart-stopping adventure about two twenty-first century children who discover the cryogenically suspended bodies of Freddie, Polly and puppy Bess, from the 1950s. This text provoked a lively debate about the differences between growing up in the 1950s and the modern day. The Book Club quiz was keenly contested; congratulations to team De La Salle 1 for narrowly coming out on top.

The Legend of Spud Murphy
Eoin Colfer’s funny tale of Will and Marty, reluctant readers forced to while away their Summer in the local library under the charge of its tyrannical, gun-wielding librarian, proved very popular with Junior Book Club members.
During an entertaining and fun filled quiz, Mostyn 2 pipped the opposition to the post answering some truly tricky teasers. Congratulations to all who contributed with such enthusiasm to another great quiz.

Next Junior Book Club
The next Junior Book Club texts are both written by the award winning author, Andrew Norris:
Aquila (aimed at older readers) or Archie’s Unbelievably Freaky Week (suitable for all)
The Telegraph describes Aquila as,
‘A wonderful, story… bags of humour and deft plotting with a very satisfying twist!’
Archie’s Unbelievably Freaky Week elicited the following review in the Scribbler
A clever, well-written, face-achingly funny book that should be read by all.’
The next Junior Book Clubs will be held, in Circle Time, on Tuesday 14th November. All those who have read a text, had it read to them or have listened to the audio book are welcome to attend.
