Choristers perform at St David’s Hall, Cardiff
On Sunday 17th June, 25 choristers from the Cathedral Choir sang at the performance of Mahler’s Third Symphony at St David’s Hall. We were invited to sing by Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra and were joined by the ladies of Welsh National Community Chorus and soloist, Kate Woolveridge.
The symphony itself is the best part of 1hr 40 minutes long and there was nothing else in the programme, not even an interval. It is rarely performed for that reason. The choristers had to sit in the choir stalls in full view of the audience for an hour and 10 minutes before they sang a note; they sang for 4 minutes in German, then had to sit for another 20 minutes or so.
They behaved impeccably and were a real credit to the school.
