St John’s College wins first round of Senior Youth Speaks competition

Two teams consisting of R15-R16 pupils participated in the annual Rotary Club’s Youth Speaks public speaking competition last night hosted here in our school library. They had stiff competition from Sixth Form and R16 pupils from both Howell’s School and Llanishen High, speaking about various topics such as a modern-day dystopian society and whether AI has gone too far.

Well done to Tom H (R16), Dea S (R16) and Akash H (R15) for their powerful speeches and representing our school so well. Our second team, Leon S (R16), Jacob V (R16) and Jack A (R16), won the competition overall, with Jacob winning Best Speaker too. They will proceed to the Area Final on Thursday, 7th February in Llanishen Golf Club. We wish them the best of luck in this next round of the competition.
