  • R8 Trip to Oxwich Bay

    R8 had a lovely trip in May to study the Wonderful Weather in Oxwich Bay. They learnt about wind direction and strength by making wind vanes and flying wind socks. Temperature, humidity and wind speed readings were measured across the sand dunes. Dials helped the children identify various cloud formations, but the parachute activity was definitely the most fun part, with the children building up storm clouds and rain.…

  • R13 Latin Trip to Caerleon

    R13 enjoyed an informative trip to Caerleon Roman town on Thursday.  The trip began with a visit to the Roman Amphitheatre where the pupils were encouraged to spot particular architectural features and use their imaginations to recreate the amphitheatre’s impressive scale. We then walked a short distance to the Roman Baths, which have been enhanced by state-of-the-art 3D projectors and sound effects to recreate an authentic atmosphere. …

    The nursery children have been planting tomato plants, strawberry plants. parsnip, pumpkin, peas, and beans on our allotment.   • R9 Tudor History Trip to Llancaiach Fawr

    R9 stepped back in time, spending a day at Llancaiach Fawr. They looked fabulous in their costumes with Elizabeth and Theo dressing as royal visitors.     St John’s College Chess Club continues to flourish, with a host of nationally-ranked players across the age range.  On Saturday 10 May, St John’s College welcomed 150 pupils from across South Wales for the annual Mega Final.  Its pupils won trophies for coming first in the boys’ and girls’ under 7 category and the boys’ under 13 category.…

  • Junior Disco

    Thursday 1st May saw our school hall transformed into a fun packed disco for our Junior pupils (and teachers).  DJ John brought lights, music, bubbles, games and competitions.  All pupils participated in the musical games with gusto and the teachers tried very hard to keep up.  Holly said, ‘most of my favourite party songs were played and the best thing of all was that the teachers had to dance through all of them’.…
