  • HMC service at the Metropolitan Cathedral

    On Tuesday 30 September, our Cathedral Choir had the privilege of providing the music for the Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference service of evening prayer at the Metropolitan Cathedral. Our Archbishop of Cardiff presided with Canon Collins (Dean of the Cathedral), and the Anglican Bishop of Worcester gave the sermon.  The lesson was read by the Head of Eton College, and we were joined by the Chamber Choir of Uppingham School in magnificent performances of works by Orlando Gibbons, Charles Wood and Dr David Neville.…

    There was a touch of magic about the first Junior Book Club of the academic year. Members were ‘sorted’ into Hogwart’s houses and quizzed on their knowledge of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, by J. K. Rowling. Congratulations to all who took part, especially the winning team, Hufflepuff (Mostyn). The next Book Club texts are both multi-award winners and written by the current Children’s Laureate, Malorie Blackman.…

    On Monday 8 September, the school’s Concert Orchestra and Choral Scholars performed in the magnificent setting of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford.  The lunch time concert featured works such as the first movement of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 and Rheinberger’s Bleib bei uns.   The boys and girls greatly enjoyed their time in Oxford, which included a picnic in the beautiful setting of Christ Church Meadow.…
