  • Happy St David’s Day from the Nursery

  • Infants Eisteddfod

    27 February 2015

    On Friday, all the children of the Infant Department participated in a celebration of Saint David’s Day and Welsh culture. The children were awarded certificates for handwriting, photography, painting and drawing competitions. Each class performed a Welsh song or recited a poem. We also enjoyed solo performances from Arya in R5 and Alexandra in R6, with recitals on the piano, guitar, harp and violin from the many talented children in R6 and R7.…

    On Wednesday 25th February, the R13 Netball Team took part in the prestigious Cardiff & the Vale County Netball Tournament.   • Sixth Form Historians Travel To Poland For Lessons From Auschwitz Project

    Two of our Lower Sixth Form students have been given the opportunity to be involved in the annual Lessons from Auschwitz Project.  Following talks on how much the experience would mean to them, Tom Pompeus and Doris Liu were democratically elected by their peers to represent the school.  The students have taken part in three events over the past month, including two seminars in the city centre and a one-day trip to Krakow to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and State Museum.  …

  • Junior Chess Team Qualifies for EPSCA National Primary Schools Championships

    Congratulations to the St John’s Junior team who have qualified for the semi-finals of the EPSCA National Primary Schools Chess Championships. In the under 9s, out of a possible 25 points, St John’s College won with a score of 21, narrowly beating The Dell A on 20.5.   • Ski Trip to Silvretta Montafan, Austria

    From 12th-17th February, Senior pupils enjoyed a Ski Trip to the Alpine resort of Silvretta Montafan. Mischa B (R15): ‘Our ski journey to Austria has been a trip to remember. Every day was filled with intense and enjoyable skiing at Silveretta Montafon with our excellent ski instructors, followed by action-packed evenings including bowling, go-karting, swimming and time for much needed rest and relaxation with our friends.…

  • Chess Victories at Cardiff & The Vale Schools Championships

    On 14 February, three St John’s pupils travelled to Cardiff City Council’s offices at Atlantic Wharf to participated in a competition involving over 200 chess players. Aron C (R14) gained joint third place in a very difficult competition – a solid effort from Aron who gained 4/6 points.  Meanwhile in the Under 8’s category, Ethan C (R7) came first with 6/6 points followed closely by Akshara N (also in R7), who came second with 5/6 points!…
