    The senior cricketers were involved in a fantastic match this afternoon against Bro Morgannwg. St John’s opened the batting and got off to a steady start with Sanay G making an impressive 20 runs.     On Thursday evening we welcomed back Junior pupils for our annual disco. The children arrived dressed to impress and were excited to be back with friends. All of the pupils had an enjoyable time.   • Staff V Sixth Form Football Match

    Yesterday afternoon, the 6th form football team played St John’s College staff in a friendly football match which was to be the 6th form’s last fixture before their summer examinations. The game was played in a fantastic spirit and all involved played fantastically well. The staff started the brighter and took an early lead, however the 6th formers began to take control of the game with Owen J and George W linking up well and causing problems for the staff’s defence.…

    Our book club for this half term was The Sheep Pig. This children’s classic is an enchanting story about a polite little pig that learns how to look after sheep, and his determination to become a ‘Sheep Pig’.   • UK Intermediate Maths Challenge

    Congratulations to Suyash A and William W in R14 who were invited to sit the next round of the highly prestigious UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge. William successfully achieved a Certificate of Merit. Suyash did so well that he not only received a Certificate of Distinction, but was in the top 210 of the 1,200 pupils who took part in the Olympiad stage of the competition and received a Bronze medal.…

    The R12 Cricket team played their opening match of the season this afternoon against a strong Bro Morgannwg side which included several county players and some year 8 pupils.   • R13 Latin Trip to Caerleon

    On Friday 22nd April R13 Latin students travelled to Caerleon to learn about daily life for soldiers based in Britain during the Roman occupation. Our excellent guide, Dr David Howell, led us on a lively if rain sodden tour of the amphitheatre and military barracks. Next we visited the museum to examine artefacts uncovered near the site, including the coffin and skeleton of a Roman soldier.…

    Team Vortex_ arrived home on Thursday night after two very tough days of competition at the F1 in Schools Competition at Silverstone race course. The team, Dan, Alif, Richard, Rowan, Idris & Henry, worked incredibly hard to ensure that each part of the competition was prepared for thoroughly. The boys have worked for nearly a year to prepare their team identity, engineering of cars and collection of sponsorship to ensure that they could compete against the other schools in both the regional & national finals.…

    On 19th April GCSE History pupils from R14 and R15 visited the Churchill War Rooms in London. The visit was part of their study of the role of Winston Churchill as wartime Prime Minister.
