    On Thursday 15th December Sam Rees was presented with an award for his A level Design Technology project at the Senedd in Cardiff. Sam received the prize at the WJEC sponsored Innovation Awards which was presented by Kirsty Williams AM. Sam designed a mountain bicycle washing station which has been recognised and awarded a patent application from Abel and Imray Intellectual Property. …

    The Junior College Council met for their first meeting during lunchtime on Wednesday 14th December. A male and female representative from each form, voted in by their peers attended the meeting where many important matters were discussed.     R8 produced a delightful Christmas story for their assembly using John Burningham’s book, ‘Harvey Slumfenburger’s Christmas Present.’ It took the excited audience through the trials and tribulations of Father Christmas’ efforts to deliver his final present to a little boy, living in poverty. The children thoroughly enjoyed their performance and gave the message of hope, perseverance and care brilliantly throughout the story.…

  • R9 Wastesavers Trip

    During the Autumn term R9 learnt all about our environment. A large part of their learning was about recycling.  To see this in action R9 visited Wastesavers, a working recycling plant. They were able to see in real time how the recycling process works and how it benefits our environment. The children thoroughly enjoyed the trip and are now excited to start saving the environment at school and at home! …

    The Junior Department thoroughly enjoyed their school trip this afternoon to watch the Sherman Theatre’s production of ‘The Borrowers’. All the pupils were enthralled by the adventures of Arrietty Clock and her family as they endeavoured to maintain their secret lives. Amongst the many highlights the pupils loved the musically talented cricket in the garden and also the nasty cook being told that her ‘brain was missing’.…

    Many congratulations to our Senior public speakers, Alessia (Chairperson), Ben C (Speaker) and Daniel S (Questioner) who were crowned winners of tonight’s ESU Churchill Public Speaking Competition at St Julian’s School, Newport.     Week Beginning 28th November 2016 Football News St John’s College R11/12 Football team played Fitzalan High on Monday afternoon in what turned out to be an excellent game. The game was played at Leckwith Stadium on 3G. Both teams started brightly with both sides creating some good goal scoring opportunities.     The nursery children went on their annual trip to the Thornhill farm shop to visit the farm animals and buy their Christmas tree. We had a fantastic time!     GCSE Astronomy Student, Daniel S, has been recognised by The Royal Astronomical Society for his amazing academic achievement at GCSE Astronomy. Congratulations to Daniel for his outstanding performance in the 2016 GCSE Astronomy exam and controlled assessment. From a possible 200 marks Daniel gained all 200 marks! Furthermore he has come in the top 12 students nationally in the Edexcel GCSE Astronomy course.…
