    On Thursday evening the Junior pupils arrived back at school dressed to impress in their best party outfits. The pupils all enjoyed the disco with DJ Deano. Oliver G said ‘it was fun and I really enjoyed my sweets!’ Rohan G said ‘I really enjoyed the disco, I thought the music was brilliant!’ The children impressed us with their polite behaviour and super dance moves.…

  • R16 History Trip to the American Museum, Bath

    R16 pupils travelled to Bath for a highly informative trip to The American Museum.  The students saw exhibits on the history of slavery in America and related this to their study of the Jim Crow Laws and discrimination towards black people in 20th century America. After we had watched a fascinating film on The Civil Rights Movement, the students were invited to use their research and analysis skills to work in groups on a wide variety of source material, including government papers, witness testimony, newspapers and photographs on the topics of Black Power, the 1963 Birmingham March, the Freedom Rides and education.…

    On Wednesday, 26th April, Kevin from Techniquest came to the school to teach KS2 all about the human body. He was extremely enthusiastic and was soon engaged in telling the pupils all about the different organs. They were amazed to learn that the skin was their largest organ and could not quite believe that their digestive system was really that long, as Kevin pulled it organ by organ from a bag.…

  • Nursery celebrate Easter with an Easter parade

    The nursery children really enjoyed taking part in the annual Nursery and Infant Easter parade. All the children looked very smart in their bonnets and were very excited to find that the Easter bunny had arrived and put eggs in their baskets which they had made. They also made Easter cards and lots of creative crafts, including Easter cooking and we even  went on an egg hunt in forest school.…

  • Nursery Children take part in RHS Flower Show Wheelbarrow Competition

    The nursery children have taken part in the Cardiff annual RHS Flower Show Wheelbarrow Competition. This year the theme was Welsh myths and legends. The nursery children produced their wheelbarrow on the theme of the Welsh flag. They made  a large white dragon and red dragon using   clothes  pegs. The children were very excited to plant red and white flowers in the wheelbarrow and were thrilled with the final result.…

    St John’s College had a wonderful opportunity to watch top flight Welsh women’s football today.  The pupils were very thankful for the experience after an extremely busy term!   • Cog Moors Waterworks

    As part of their Geography topic ‘Feeding the World’ R9 visited Cog Moors Waterworks where they experienced living in an African village. They experienced having to carry out typical chores, and experienced the long journey that some African children have to walk to collect safe water. The children were also able to carry out experiments such as evaporating salt water and took part in a competition to see which group could successfully filter water using a variety of materials.…
