    Lily M and Rachel E (U6) left Wales on Sunday for 9 days volunteering in Ghana. They will be working in local villages and schools, helping with outreach clinics and on building projects in the area.     In honour of Black History Month, our Upper Sixth students studying Welsh A Level have been reading one of the short stories on the WJEC specification, ‘Angladd yn y Wlad’ (Funeral in the Country). The short story, written by Ioan Kidd, tells the story of a black family affected by the tragedies of the Apartheid regime in South Africa during the latter part of the 20th century.…

    R8 went back in time on Monday 9th to an ancient Celtic roundhouse. They met a lady who explained and showed them similarities and differences between modern life and that of an ancient Celt. The children held spear heads, pick axes made from antlers, flints and glass beads.     R10s travelled to Oxwich Bay on the Gower Peninsular to learn all about survival skills. Pupils are reading Michael Morpurgo’s ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ where the main character, a young boy called Michael, ends up shipwrecked on an island. To begin pupils sat alone on the beach to contemplate the fate of being shipwrecked before climbing the highest sand dune to survey the resources available to them.…
