    Congratulations to R13/14 pupils who played an outstanding 40 mins of Netball on Tuesday v Bro Edern.  The team demonstrated true grit throughout the match to withstand the opposition’s fresh cycle of players; we had no substitutes!     R7 have been looking at animals and plants in the local environment and have discussed camouflage. They had to look for toy animals that were hidden in Forest School and to discuss why some were easier to find than others. They have also been growing cress, lettuce and daffodils and watching the roots of a bulb as they grow down into the bottle.…

    On 22nd November two teams took part in the International Kids’ Lit Quiz. Pupils involved were Crina C, Carys R, Ji-Eun K, Chuka I, Ojas M, Rhea I, Krishna L and Kate F.  Both teams finished with very respectable scores and both won a round and received a book prize. Our team of R13 pupils: Carys, Ji-Eun, Chuka and Crina did particularly well, finishing 3rd overall and were only a point behind 2nd place.…

    On Tuesday 21st November, our Sixth Form students had the exciting opportunity to be part of the audience for the popular Welsh language television programme, ‘Jonathan’, hosted by former professional rugby player Jonathan Davies OBE, alongside international rugby referee Nigel Owens MBE, and Rugby commentator Sarra Elgan.   • A Level Welsh – Residential Trip to Glan-llyn

    On Wednesday 15th November, our three Upper Sixth students, Rachel E, Morgan G and Fflur P, along with Miss McManus made the four hour journey to North Wales, ready for an intensive 3 days of lectures and revision seminars at the Urdd Centre in Glan-Llyn, near Bala. Despite the early start of 6:45am, the girls were ready for an afternoon of seminars where they had the privilege of listening to the playwright of the drama studied at A Level, and asking her many questions already discussed in lessons.…

    Louis Friedman was part of the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa during the 60s and 70s. He shared his experiences with R16 who are currently completing their GCSE Controlled Assessment on this subject. Several students had contacted Mr Friedman beforehand with specific questions about apartheid and were delighted to get detailed hand written replies.…

    Our Junior Enterprise began earlier in the term with an inspirational talk from Mr Gooding and learning about the impact of logos and slogans with Mrs Crowley-Davies. R11 also learnt about the importance of team work when tasked with building a metre-high spaghetti tower.     On Wednesday morning, forty-nine R12 pupils departed St John’s for an exciting three days at Llangrannog. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the activities including skiing, tobogganing, bingo, quads, high ropes, trampolining, horse riding and the eagerly awaited disco! They immersed themselves in the Welsh language and got to know one another that little bit better by developing their teamwork and communicating skills.…

    Golf Launch This week we launched the SJC Lee Bromley Golf Academy. Pupils tried out a range of SNAG (Starting New At Golf) golf equipment and expressed their interest.   Our vision is now to establish our golf academy in partnership with Began Road Golf Centre and St Mellons Golf Club.   Lee will next be delivering further taster sessions in lessons and on Friday, 17th and 24th November from 4.00pm – 4.45pm.  …

    This week R5 were introduced to money. In addition to cutting and sticking the correct number of coins in the purse, the children played a counting game with real pennies.
