    As part of their Geography studies, R11 had the opportunity to head down to the Gower to conduct a river study on the River Ilston. The children were able to measure the speed, width and depth at three different key points along the river.   • R10 Trip to Oxwich Bay

    R10 pupils, Mrs Clint and Mrs Giannotti, Mr Dennis and Miss Moody were lucky with the weather when they spent a whole day at Oxwich Bay exploring the concept of being washed up on a deserted island. Having first spent time sitting alone on the beach looking out to sea and thinking about their feelings, pupils then had a great team-building experience as they worked in groups to make maps of the island, considered the Rules of 3 and discovered how to create drinking water and find food.…

  • R10 Trip to ‘We the Curious’, Bristol

    On Wednesday, 14th November,  the excited R10s boarded a coach bound for Bristol and the wonders of We The Curious. On arrival, bags and coats were discarded and pupils were free to explore the exhibits.     As part of their Geography studies, R8 pupils were able to visit Brecon Beacons National Park. The children were able to see the scale and beauty of the park as well as the effects of tourism.     R5 have been learning the story of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. The children made puppets using wooden spoons and a range of materials. They sorted objects in the classroom into big, medium and small. They were able to match the bears to the correct size bowls, beds and chairs. R5 also tasted porridge this week.…

    All the children have had a lovely day raising money for Children in Need. As well as the whole school cake sale and Bake Off, the Juniors held a sponsored star jump during morning break.     In Forest School we worked in groups building a home for a hedgehog. The children had to think about camouflage, the size of their hedgehog and protection from the elements. In Maths we have been learning about months of the year and seasons. The children put the months into the correct order.…

  • R12 Residential Visit to Llangrannog

    Last week, fifty R12 pupils departed St John’s for an exhilarating stay at Llangranog Urdd camp. Activities included skiing, tobogganing, quads, zip wire, trampolining, horse riding and the best bit – the disco! They immersed themselves in the Welsh language and got to know one another that much better by developing their teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills.…
