    On Thursday 31st January 2019 we hosted our Annual Junior Aqua games at Pentwyn Leisure Centre. First up we saw the competition between the R8 and R9 pupils who were fully supported by their R10 and R11 house captains, who did a fantastic job.   • Rotary Club Youth Speaks

    Last night our school hosted the annual Rotary Club Youth Speaks Intermediate competition. One team of R14 pupils participated, proposing the topic: the NHS should not be privatised. Chairperson, Varun G, speaker, Ansha K, and the Vote of Thanks, Zakriya A, represented the school extremely well, showing enthusiasm towards the topic and speaking confidently in front of the audience.…

    R10 were privileged to have a visit from author Cathy Farr on 24th January. Cathy spent a couple of hours with each class and talked about her books and how she writes them. She gave our young writers plenty of useful tips on how to make the most of their writing and everyone had the opportunity to create descriptive paragraphs and short stories based on her ideas.…

  • Holocaust Memorial Service

    On Friday 25th January,  Harshita A, Ffion A, Lewis W and Michal P accompanied Mr Moody and Mrs Bryan-Jones to the Holocaust Memorial Service at City Hall. The pupils were extremely moved by the service and were privileged to hear from Renate Collins who was 5 years old when she travelled from Czechoslovakia to Britain with Sir Nicholas Winton on the Kindertransport.…

    R6 and R7 have been enjoying playing traditional games. They played ‘What’s the Time Mr Wolf?’ and ‘In and Out the Dusty Bluebells’. R7 children have been investigating Forces in Science. They have been experimenting with different surfaces for racing toy cars. They have been making Chinese dragons in preparation for Chinese New Year and having fun doing gymnastics.…

    Recently in PE the children have been working on their gymnastic skills. They have found different ways to travel across the mats, thinking about which part of their body is weight bearing. R5 particularly enjoyed making bridges and holding the position whilst their partner travelled underneath.     We have completed our topic of Traditional Tales this week by making castles. Inside the castle was the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk. The children enjoyed saying Fee Fi Fo Thumb in their role-play activities. We also made houses for the ‘Three Little Pigs’, using spaghetti, lollipop sticks and bricks.…

  • R10 Trip to the Royal Mint, Llantrisant

    On Thursday 17th January, the pupils of R10 went on a trip to the Royal Mint at Llantrisant. We started off the day with a tour of the factory where we witnessed the process of forging a coin. We were even lucky enough to see plenty of action in the main part of the factory, with enormous buckets of coins being poured into machines for validation and spotting loose pound coins on the factory floor!…

    Today, R8 visited the amazing Roman Baths in Bath. We all looked splendid in our togas and tunics! We enjoyed our mosaic workshop and also handling different Roman artefacts. Did you know that the Romans had special tools to scrape oil from their skin? The tour of the baths was fascinating and we learnt so many interesting facts about Roman life.…
