    This week we were pleased to host another Creative Writing workshop run by local author, Cathy Farr. R10 pupils joined in enthusiastically with the various activities that Cathy presented and produced some interesting and lively pieces of writing.     Our Christmas wishes were granted this year as we were absolutely delighted to see every single child in the Junior school take part in our festive Book Club based on Charles Dickens classic yuletide tale,  ‘A Christmas Carol’! The children had a number of editions of the story to choose from, ranging in complexity, meaning our very youngest pupils could compete on the same teams alongside our oldest – quite a novel experience for them!…

  • F1 in Schools R12 Race Day and House Competition

    On Tuesday the 14th January, R12 comprising of 13 different Entry class teams and two Development teams from R13 arrived in the sports hall to compete to represent SJC at the F1 in Schools Regional Final.     R5 thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the National Museum. They attended a workshop on dinosaur sounds and had great fun making dinosaur noises. They worked in groups to build a nest for dinosaur eggs and were amazed at the size of the dinosaur bones and footprints. A highlight of the trip was seeing Dippy the diplodocus.…

  • Cake Sale for Australia

    **UPDATED 17/01/2020** Mrs Bancroft’s English class decided to hold a bake sale to raise money for the animals of the Australian bushfires. They baked and donated cakes, and gave up their break to sell them. £225 (close to 400 Australian dollars) was raised and it will go directly to a charity on Kangaroo Island, which has lost over half of its koala population.…

    The nursery children have settled back into school life and have enjoyed a very busy week. We have been learning the letter sound p in our Jolly phonics this week. The children made pasta pictures and in cooking on Friday made a pink cake with candles. Each child  had a candle to blow out saying, “p,p,p” In our Abacus maths, we have been counting to 20 and we have also had lots of fun in forest school exploring using magnifying glasses.…
