    As part of our celebrations for this year’s World Book Day earlier in the month, Junior pupils took part with their usual energy and enthusiasm in our latest Book Clubs, this time based on the theme of ‘Fear of the Dark’. We were once again absolutely delighted with the high numbers of children eager to take part and the excitement they showed in another Kahoot based computer quiz,  with our younger pupils contesting their knowledge of Jill Tomlinsons ‘The Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark’ and the elder Jean DuPrau’s ‘The City of Ember’.…

    Well done to all the Infant children who completed a 15 minute sponsored silence today in aid of HCPT and Crohn’s and Colitis UK.   • R13 Geography Field Trip to Ryers Down

    14 March 2020

    R13 undertook an environmental impact survey to assess whether Ryers Down was an appropriate location for a wind farm. The pupils braved the wind and collected a range of data from biodiversity in the pond to measuring wind speeds. The pupils will now be writing up their data collection into a report and deciding whether a wind farm should be built.…

  • F1 in Schools – South Wales Winners Collaboration

    Team Blackout, our Development Class F1 in Schools National finalists, visited the Professional Class winners, Nemesis Inferno, at Pencoed Comprehensive yesterday. They were invited to test their cars on the team’s track to engage in a collaboration to develop information for their engineering and enterprise portfolios. The cars performed well until a tether line moved position and, just like in real F1, bits of cars ended up all over the sports hall floor!…

    Yet again, all pupils in R12-R14 gathered in the hall for a morning to celebrate Welsh culture and heritage with our annual Senior Eisteddfod! Pupils competed in a variety of competitions, from a house quiz to individual and group Welsh recitations.  St David’s sang the famous Welsh language song ‘Oes Gafr Eto?’ beautifully, taking 1st place in the R12/R13 House Choir Competition whilst Mostyn secured the top spot in the R12 Group Recitation Competition with their clear diction and creative use of props!…
