Eisteddfod 2020 – Llongyfarchiadau, St Davids! Congratulations, St David’s!
Yet again, all pupils in R12-R14 gathered in the hall for a morning to celebrate Welsh culture and heritage with our annual Senior Eisteddfod! Pupils competed in a variety of competitions, from a house quiz to individual and group Welsh recitations.
St David’s sang the famous Welsh language song ‘Oes Gafr Eto?’ beautifully, taking 1st place in the R12/R13 House Choir Competition whilst Mostyn secured the top spot in the R12 Group Recitation Competition with their clear diction and creative use of props!
Notable individual winners were Rayan J from St David’s in the R13 Welsh Individual Recitation Competition, followed by Layth Y, also of St David’s and Qahira S of Mostyn. In the instrumental competitions, Roha R of Bute earned first place, followed by Max M of De La Salle and Kushi S of Mostyn. In the second of the musical competitions, Joseph C of De La Salle earned first place with his catchy guitar solo, followed by Alfie J of Mostyn and Alma Sanz of St David’s, in second and third place respectively. The winning R14 ensemble was Neel S, Tom D, Alex J, Sean B and Conrad S with their rendition of ‘Calon Lan’, who all earned valuable points for their houses.
Mostyn claimed victory in the House Quiz, with their winning team of Humza A, Suhaani P, Kavel G and Abhijeet A.
Deciding on a winning bard proved difficult this year with so many exceptional entries across all three-year groups; Noah B and Humza A, both of Mostyn secured joint third place; in second place was Asha T, also of Mostyn, but in first place and crowned and chaired as the winning Bard of the 2020 Eisteddfod was Sean B, of St David’s! Sean recited his winning poem to great applause from the audience. Da iawn, Sean!
This year, our winning house is St David’s, with a staggering 125 points! Llongyfarchiadau / Congratulations!
Miss McManus would like to thank all the staff for their support, along with the pupils for their enthusiasm and representing their houses perfectly! Da iawn!
