Cardiff Blues Trip

Pupils and staff had an outstanding opportunity to experience an evening of live professional rugby last Friday (16th Sept).  The atmosphere was outstanding throughout.  Pupils met the players before the match and were able to celebrate the success of the Blues win with the players at the end of the match. Pupils were a credit to the school.

R16 Sevens Tournament

Well done to all pupils involved in today’s sevens tournament at Rumney RFC. Pupils competed with schools from across Cardiff recording 3 wins against Fitzalan, Cathays and Bishop of Llandaf.  All pupils can be very proud of their efforts today, especially those in R15 playing against opposition a year older. Well done! Mr Williams

Rugby and Football

The R12 Rugby team and R13 Football team were involved in a double header fixture on Monday afternoon against Bro Edern. Both teams played extremely well against two very strong Bro Edern sides. Unfortunately St John’s lost in both games but can take many positives from the performances. Well done to all involved. Mr Tertois

The R13 Rugby team put an outstanding performance in against Bro Edern on Tuesday afternoon. The pupils showed significant improvement and are making excellent progress with each fixture. The final score was 22-12 to Bro Edern which is a massive improvement on last years result. We now look forward to our tens tournament next week where we welcome schools from across Cardiff to our fantastic playing fields.

Outstanding turnout to Rugby club this week with over 40 pupils taking part.  This is a fantastic fixture that we hope to grow week on week. Mr Williams

A collaboration has taken place between the Welsh Hockey CEO, Cardiff Metropolitan Hockey Coaches and St John’s College PE Department to drive hockey forward.  Ieuan Davies has begun hockey sessions within SJC with both the Juniors and Seniors.

We would like pupils to make every effort to sign up for the school club.  The junior clubs for R10 & R11’s take place in Monday lunchtime and the Senior School club takes place every Monday evening from 16:00-17:00 at Talybont. We are also promoting the external club links at Cardiff Met on Tuesday evenings 18:30-19:30. Mrs Wood

A great start to the R13 Netball season with a 6-3 win against Kings Monkton. All players who were involved played extremely well. Congratulations to Emily S, Nithya, Anais and Topsy who all received player of the match. Miss Thomas

Rugby and Hockey

On Friday afternoon St John’s College hosted King’s Hawford School Worcester for some Rugby and Hockey fixtures as they were touring the area. This was a fantastic occasion with over 100 pupils taking part. Congratulations to all involved. Mr Tertois and Miss Thomas
