Roald Dahl 100th Anniversary Junior Book Club

September 13th 2016 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth, in Cardiff, of the much loved children’s author, Roald Dahl. To celebrate this anniversary, Junior Book Club members read a range of Dahl classics, Danny the Champion of the World, Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and then pitted their wits against each other in the Book Club quiz. Congratulations to team Bute 2 for an impressive victory.

The next Book Club texts are:
Twist of Gold by Michael Morpurgo or The Legend of Captain Crow’s Teeth by Eoin Colfer
Morpurgo’s Twist of Gold is set against the backdrop of Ireland gripped by famine in 1847, it follows Sean and Annie’s struggle for survival as it takes them on a daring journey across America against all the odds. The Legend of Captain Crow’s Teeth, by the Irish author, Eoin Colfer, is set in modern day Ireland and provides “plenty of full-on belly laughs”. (Sunday Times)
The next Junior Book Club will be held, in Circle Time, on Tuesday 15th November. As always, those who have read the text, had it read to them or have listened to the audiobook are welcome to attend.
Happy reading,
