The One Hundred and One Dalmatians Junior Book Club

Dodie Smith’s 1956 classic tale of loveable Dalmatians appears to have charmed another generation of young readers and has inspired a beautiful dalmatian puppy display in the Junior corridor. Congratulations to teams Mostyn and Bute for jointly winning this half term’s Book Club quiz.

Pupils can choose between the following texts:
Wonder by R J Palacio (aimed at older readers)
Or
The Angel of Nitshill Road by Anne Fine (suitable for all)
Malorie Blackman, the former Children’s Laureate, said of Wonder,
“What a gem of a story. Moving and heartwarming. This book made me laugh, made me angry, made me cry.
“When the kids have finished with this the adults will want to read it. Everybody should.” The Financial Times
The Angel of Nitshill Road is a classic children’s story by one of our best-loved authors, the former Children’s Laureate and double Carnegie Medal winner, Anne Fine.
“Anne Fine has a rare genius for building a funny, enriching and moving story around the nuts and bolts of school life.” The Times
The next Junior Book Club will be held, in Circle Time, on Tuesday 7th March. As always, those who have read the text, had it read to them or have listened to the audiobook are welcome to attend.
Happy reading,
