On Monday, six R9 and two R10 pupils represented St John’s College at the Cardiff Games Orange Tennis Tournament. The boys’ team played against Whitchurch, Treganna and Rhydypennau. The girls’ team played against Whitchurch, Treganna and Howell’s. Both teams won all their games against Treganna Primary School. All pupils displayed excellent team within their doubles matches. Congratulations to all players who won most of their singles matches. Well done to the whole squad on an exciting day of Tennis. Thank you to the parents for your continued support at this event. It is greatly appreciated by the PE department.

Hockey News

On Monday night pupils played their last inter-school match of the season.  The match challenges set up by Tom, Ieuan and Reuben tested pupils skills progressed over the year. The pupils’ commitment to hockey this year has been excellent.  There has been fantastic progress made, a number of pupils are now playing for Cardiff Met on a weekly basis.  A special mention must go to Pablo of R11, he was the coach’s player of the match on Monday.  Well done, Pablo!  The coaching will continue in the new academic year, September 2017.  The Junior hockey squad will finish up with the rescheduled Cardiff Games Hockey Competition, on Monday 26th June, at the Sports Wales National Centre Cardiff.

Cricket News

On Monday the R12 cricket team played host to Bro Edern school. The pupils batted and fielded incredibly well throughout the afternoon cruising to an excellent victory. Special mentions to Ben P and Vedansh G for an outstanding bowling performance. We are also very proud of the 5 R11 players who stepped up to play a year above (Ashlin J, Aryan S, Daniel A, Kavel G, Yash V)
