  • Victory at Schools Team Tennis Competition

    On Thursday 30th June, four pupils from St John’s College competed in the Schools Team Tennis Competition – South Wales. The four girls who were selected were Eilidh, Harshita, Christina and Emily. All girls played extremely well and worked exceptionally well in the doubles competition. They won against Radyr and Cardiff High and lost against Howells and Whitchurch. …

  • R8 & R9 Maths Trip to Parc

    On Tuesday 28th June, R8 and R9 pupils visited Parc in Grangetown. The children worked in groups to complete a series of Maths challenges. They used stopwatches to time themselves on the different activities and measured their strides in the sand. They made estimations and compared these with their actual results.…

  • Nursery & Infants Sports Day

    This year’s Infants Sports Day was a great success. The children thoroughly enjoyed all the activities and all performed to their very best achieving outstanding results. It was lovely to see the children smiling, cheering each other on and being fully supportive of one another. It was fantastic to see the younger siblings take part in the toddler race and the children particularly enjoyed watching their Mums and Dads taking part in the tug of war competition.…

  • Joint Concert with the Choir of Gonville & Cauis College, Cambridge

    On Saturday 25 June, our Cathedral Choir offered a joint concert with the Choir of Gonville & Cauis College, Cambridge at St Mary’s Church, Whitchurch at 7.30pm.     On Wednesday 22 June, pupils from R8 to Sixth Form came to see the inspirational innovator Andrew Jenkins and the amazing velomobile he has built with the help of Swansea University in order to achieve two ambitious goals: firstly to tour the UK in this remarkable vehicle, visiting Maggie’s Cancer Trust Centres stretching across England, Wales and Scotland, and secondly to smash the world landspeed record. …

  • R10 Pirate Day

    9 June 2016

    R10 enjoyed a day at Port Eynon Beach where they practised using grid references and compasses. The skills learnt enabled them to follow a series of clues to discover where the pirate treasure was buried.  Further exploration of the Salt House revealed the pirates’ hidden stash.  Once the goods had been exchanged for gold coins the pupils set about building their own islands in the sand.…

    Today we had an outstanding opportunity to play the R14 boys and girls in a Welsh Baseball coached fixture V Eastern High School. Both matches were exciting with excellent home runs achieved by both teams. The purpose of the match was to further develop pupils’ understanding of the Welsh Baseball Rules.  

  • R8 History Trip to Caerleon

    R8 pupils have been finding out about the Romans in History lessons this year and their studies culminated in a trip to the Roman Legionary Museum, Baths and Amphitheatre in Caerleon on Tuesday 7th June. Pupils had the opportunity to dress as soldiers and civilians and enjoyed some role­-playing activities. They looked at the many interesting artefacts in the museums and tried to imagine gladiator and animal fights in the now peaceful amphitheatre.…
