    St John’s had a rather unusual set of visitors on Thursday 14th December when Father Christmas arrived with not only his reindeer, but pilots, farmers, motor cyclists, skiers and mountain climbers who assisted him in telling the story of ‘Harvey Slumfenbuger’s Christmas Present’. It was a hilarious version of this story told by R8 narrators of how Father Christmas, after his extremely exhausting Christmas Eve, had to deliver one final present to a very poor little boy who lived far, far away… The children performed brilliantly and the audience was royally entertained by their costumes and unforgettable performance.…

    Tom had another busy day at the Investec International Rugby Academy in South Africa. Working with Andre Pretorius and Michael Horak on attacking play and changing the attack to the speed of a defensive line. He is training hard on the pitch and learning some Afrikaans along the way.…

    Three R16 pupils did exceptionally well in the recent UKMT Senior maths challenge – (this challenge is generally aimed at pupils studying lower 6 maths). Will W and Neil M qualified for the follow on senior Kangaroo round and Suyash A went one step further by achieving a score which meant he took part in the Olympiad round.…

    R6 have been learning the value of coins. We ordered the coins practically and used the interactive whiteboard to play a coin recognition game.  The children then used what they had learned to order coins up to £2. We practiced writing the pound sign in front of the number.…

  • Nursery visits Thornhill Farm to buy a Christmas tree

    The Nursery children had a very special trip to the Thornhill Farm to buy their Christmas tree. We really enjoyed visiting all the animals and the children especially enjoyed the Alpacas joining in with our singing. The children chose a beautiful tree and watched  as the farmer prepared the tree to take back to school .…

    R7 created a display of Christmas jumpers along the washing line. The jumpers had to have a Christmas theme and the image had to be symmetrical! The children have been looking at the different continents and oceans in Geography lessons using globes and atlases. They enjoyed colouring in the countries. This week R7 have been learning about poetry with the children experimenting with alliteration when writing their own poems.…

    Many congratulations to Ella E who competed for St John’s College on 26th November in the U14 Elite level at the Welsh Schools Trampolining Competition. She was very pleased to win the Silver trophy. Ella will now go on to represent the school at the Zonal competition in the North of England in January.…
