  • Sailing – Congratulations to Charlotte!

    Charlotte S, R11, took part in the UK inland sailing championships at Grafham Water last weekend and came 1st Girl! This was Charlotte’s first national event and out of 36 sailors aged 9-14 from all over the UK, she also came 11th overall. This is an excellent achievement not least as she succeeded despite some heavy wind, rain and cold!…

    Can you imagine an R11 “Rivers Trip” with no trip….and no river? R11 was lucky enough to have a visit from Dawn Thomas, the Lead Instructor at Naturedays. Using the many tools that Dawn brought with her, along with their imaginations, R11 pupils were able to learn more about the three river processes (erosion, transport, and deposition), study samples of river water, and use their bodies to recreate a number of natural phenomena.…

  • Cathy Farr writing workshops for R10

    R10 enjoyed fabulous workshops from the author, Cathy Farr, earlier this term. They learnt a great deal about the creative writing process, drafting, editing and redrafting and tried their hand at developing their own vocabulary banks. In particular, they explored a wide variety of verbs to use in their writing and created some amazing sentences and short stories.…

    Both of our teams excelled when they took part in the Wales and Northern Ireland heat of the first National Reading Champions Quiz this week, a fiendishly tricky online event testing the children in all aspects of literary knowledge.     During one of our R8 History home learning lessons, we met Soldier Rufus from Caerleon who set us a challenge.  We would learn about the Romans and how to become a Roman Soldier.  We started with a ‘Practice Bootcamp’ with Centurion Valerius where we learnt to march using Latin terms such as ‘Intente’ and ‘Laxarte’. …
