On Monday 23rd March, a team of R13 girls – Safiye, Raunaq, Bethan and Casey – represented the school at the CyberFirst Wales Girls Competition Finals, held at the ICC in Newport. The team earned their place at the finals after achieving an impressive 5th place in Wales during the earlier stages of the competition.
The finals coincided with the national Women in Cyber conference, providing a fantastic opportunity for the students to experience both competitive and inspirational elements of the cyber security industry. During the day, the team took part in a challenging Capture the Flag (CTF) competition, performing exceptionally well and narrowly missing out on a Top 3 finish.
In addition to the competition, the students were able to attend a range of inspiring conference talks, hearing from leading figures within the cyber security sector. The day concluded with a celebratory dinner and awards evening.
A special congratulations goes to Casey, who was awarded Team Player of the Year. This accolade, nominated by Mr Jones, recognised her lively, enthusiastic and supportive contribution throughout the competition.
It was a fantastic day for all involved, and the team represented the school with great enthusiasm, teamwork and professionalism.
