We bade farewell to our UVI leavers with a series of events held from 6th-9th May.
Tuesday morning saw all of the SJC leavers gather for an assembly in the Hall with the Upper VIth students opening proceedings coordinated by Layth and featuring contributions from Tanisha, Sulaiman and Becky. Impressive efforts had been made to gather videos of some of the most entertaining moments of their SJC years and to select the “Most Memorable” girl and boy leaver. Sandwiched in the middle of this was a medley of A Level teachers’ recorded interviews about the year group as well as Mr Cooper’s speech. He thanked the cohort for being “mostly bearable” and offered some suggestions for the future devised by the Sixth Form Tutor Team, notably the breaking of a lifetime habit by actually reading their school emails!
The Upper VI’s final Enrichment session on Thursday afternoon was held at the school playing fields following a vote to choose the venue and activities. An excellent turnout made for a closely contested game of cricket plus archery sessions and finally a football match.
Lastly, on Friday lunchtime, a room was booked at the Milk & Sugar Cafe next to the Sixth Form Centre. This allowed students plus their current and former staff the opportunity to sign shirts, socialise, take photos and enjoy the fine catering before they departed to begin their study leave.
We hope our alumni will keep in touch with us and let us know how post-SJC life is going. They have our very best wishes for the examinations.
