Over the past couple of months, our R15 and R14 pupils have taken on the great outdoors in two very different but equally impressive Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.
First up were our R15 pupils, who tackled their Silver Practice Expedition in the St Brides Super Ely area. Conditions were dry, but the overnight temperatures were bitterly cold – with frost on the ground each morning! Despite the chilly weather, pupils showed outstanding resilience, teamwork, and cooperation throughout the three days. Their behaviour was exceptional, and they truly set the standard for this year’s expeditions. Well done, R15 – you made us incredibly proud!
Hot on their heels came our R14 pupils, who completed their Bronze Qualifying Expedition on what turned out to be two of the hottest days of the year (so far). They walked a scenic but challenging stretch of the Vale of Glamorgan coastal path, from Fontygary to Ogmore, with an overnight camp at Monknash. Despite the heat, pupils stayed positive and worked brilliantly as a team throughout.
Both groups were a credit to the school – showing maturity, determination, and great support for each other throughout their adventures. A huge well done to everyone involved!
A big thank you to all staff involved – their time, effort, and commitment were key to making both expeditions such a success.
