R8 had a fantastic time in Caerleon today, stepping back in time to begin training as soldiers in the Second Legion Augusta (named after the first Roman Emperor, Augustus).

Our Centurion inspected us carefully to make sure we met the recruitment requirements:

• At least 5ft 7 inches tall
• Male
• A Roman citizen
• At least 17 years old
• Unmarried

We then pledged our loyalty to the legion and got straight into training! Everyone enjoyed learning Latin commands and practising military formations.

After exploring the Roman baths, we wrapped up the day with some thrilling chariot races and even pretended to be gladiators charging into the amphitheatre—there was lots of cheering and excitement!

A huge well done to R8 for your fantastic behaviour, enthusiasm, and curious minds—you made the teachers very proud!
